Crow’s Feet

Flip, flap, flip, flap.
Hot asphalt!
King of this air...
and pavement!
(Waddles like a duck!)
Flip, flap, flip, flap.
Walking to his doom!
Ever the predator,
Frozen, belly low
Not a whisker twitch.
Tail…silent.
Flip, flap, flip, flap
Springggggggggggggggggggg.
Flurry of feathers
Caw…caw…ca…
Ought to have made that appointment…
with your Ophthalmologist.
Just witnessed this...did not think it possible...
it was accomplished in just a few minutes.
We have many very large crows...who constantly tease the cats and dogs in our area. The one l described, indeed met his match this morning.
Still shaking my head in disbelief!

Have you ever watched a cat...stalking

I like it. My female cat brings me live birds. I tickle her and she drops them. I've saved many birds this way. My other cat will kill them on the spot though because he used to be a stray and lived off the land so to speak. Cookie just thinks they are play things. Very nice and descriptive.

Yes, their patience and stillness is amazing!!
I own no cats, many strays pass through the woods on to my yard, they lay at the edge of the pond a waiting birds to drink,
under my car for the chip monks to appear, at the edge of the woods for maybe a mouse? They do a lot of waiting to spring!

Visually a delight. Repetition of sounds added to the effect. My compliments.

Know what you mean cats are very entertaining. I've had three that were great but last is very special.

Have you ever watched a cat...stalking

I never thought I'd be food for a cat.
I did not see him as there he sat.
The lousy cat is extremely rude
I never thought I'd be cat food.
I am big and black, a stately bird
Now I am just an old cat ----------

Change 'ever' the predator to
Enter the predator.I think it would help the sense here.

and instead of 'your' ophthalmologist
put
its or his - because otherwise it sounds as if we ought to have made an appointment.

Is he dead?
Outside broadcast, straight from the pavement to our homes.
Ca not get quicker than that.

Cats are comic relief for people.

Have you ever watched a cat...stalking

Yeah, my cat hides behind coats on racks and chairs and ambushes people as they walk by. We can still see his feet and butt sitting down, but he does not seem to know that.

Great poem, by the way.
